Contemporary Art Gallery
The Blog

A breath of fresh air is blowing down the landmark street Wollzeile, a Viennese historical and traditional lane full of boutiques and cafes dating back over a 100 years. The newest contemporary art gallery is nestled right in its midst, in a tiny shop front that leads down to a cavernous basement where a new surge of life is emerging. The vision is to complement the current arts and culture scene in Vienna with the freshness of contemporary art, and to bring with it an international accent. The aim is to provide a fertile ground on which young artists are nurtured and cultivated, stimulating them into creativity with an ongoing showcase of trends as they happen.

Yoshi‘s Corner is not only a gallery, but is also a store showcasing individual and creative design. This is in keeping with the concept for contemporary art because it serves as a tactile backdrop for creative inspiration. It keeps that flow, that freshness, ongoing. And, contemporary.

It’s not a usual shopping-experience, we’re talking about an attraction pole where connaisseures  move far beyond the regular consumation force.

The walls will be decorated with internationally known pop art paintings, Warhols mixed with paintings of famous artists like Marc Quinn and editions of Robert Indiana or Victor Vasarely. Fine paintings from Petra von Kazinyan or Claude Charlier, photography from David la Chapelle or Lawrence Schiller and well known newcomers like Heidi Popovic, turn the Corner into one of  Europes most creative places. Literature and international design toys, as well as furniture and fashion accessoires are also part of this sortiment. The works are presented casually and build a part of the room’s atmosphere. Just like the pieces of art, all works and pictures can be bought.

Nothing is ordinary, everything’s special.
